I didn't my Reilly, and thought the quick, impressionistic sideway glances into their courtship sold the fact that, yeah, those two should never been a coupe, much less a married one with kids. I thought the use of red was a tad much, but then that hysterically morbid soup can shot you mentioned wouldn't have packed the same amount of "oh shit I can't help but laugh" wallop. Amongst my favorite choices Ramsey of Ramsey was what ahe didn't say, but implied; that Kevin was obviously way too intelligent for his school. The only blame society receives is the shunning and shaming of Swinton's character. Many socio/psychopaths can and do make it thru life without mass murder, but Ramsey is able to find fault with Kevin, Swinton and Reilly in equal measure.
